Cal Conley was able to score the winning run after Tyler Tolve struck out swinging. Conley was able to watch the first two strikes go by, but he failed to reach the batter’s box in the required time. Conley was then called out, ending play. Atlanta finished the 2022 season with a record of 101-61, tied with the New York Mets for first place in the National League East. While the Braves received a bye in the playoffs while the Mets lost to the San Diego Padres in round two, the Braves were granted a bye in the Wild Card round. In the Divisional Series round, Atlanta lost just one game against Philadelphia.
New York Yankees lost but top prospect Jasson Dominguez was able to hit a 420-foot homer during the fifth inning. Gleyber Torres was also a homer and scored a run. Nine pitchers were used by the Yankees for the game. They allowed 11 hits, five walks and struck out 12. With a record of 99-63, the Yankees won the American League East seven games ahead of the Toronto Blue Jays. New York beat Cleveland 3-2 in the Divisional round, but was defeated by the Astros in the AL Championship Series.
