Colorado Rockies vs New York Mets Analysis

At first, it appeared Colorado Rockies would fail to bring its winning streak across to New England. With their four-run seventh to tie the game, the Rockies were back on track. A five-run eighth brought on their victory against the Milwaukee Brewers. Now they enter this weekend boasting four consecutive victories. Antonio Senzatela made his season debut for the Rockies today and began off strong. Senzatela had an inauspicious 2022, posting an ERA of 92 and WHIP of 1.690. His H/9 was 13.0, leading to a 5.07 ERA. He didn’t face the Mets last season. Assisting him will be an offense scoring 4.19 runs per game after their nine-run outburst on Thursday. Contrary to most clubs, their focus has not been to take full advantage of the new rules, only managing to swipe seven bags in 10 attempts. Their strikeout and walk rates at bat are some of the lowest in MLB. They get plenty of hits and doubles, but that is it.

When the New York Mets traveled to Detroit for their series against the Tigers with Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander both due back, they expected at least two victories from this series. Instead, they lost 2-0 in the series finale to Michigan and were swept off their feet. Tigers legend Justin Verlander allowed two home runs before rallying and finishing strong. Three relievers behind him also contributed, tossing three scoreless innings each. However, the offense once again came up short with just three hits and one walk in this contest. This team with championship aspirations stands at 16-16 through 32 games. Scoring has not been an issue during their slow start; they are averaging 4.41 runs per game on average and fully taking advantage of their new rules. Going into this series, the Mets had 26 stolen bases that have only been caught five times. They rank among the best lineups in terms of walk rate and strikeout rate, highlighted by Pete Alonso’s 11 home runs and 28 RBIs at their center. There have been some unfortunate examples, but production tends to remain steady. Kodai Senga starts have yielded victories for most of his starts in Major League Baseball this year, beginning his debut with four Mets wins before suffering his first loss last time out. Senga had a solid start, with five innings pitched and only two runs allowed, but his run support wasn’t there. Senga has struggled with walks and homers thus far, leading to his 5.47 FIP. Still, he’s managed to limit damage in most outings and give the team a shot at winning.

Colorado Rockies vs New York Mets Free Pick

Antonio Senzatela has yet to pitch this year, making it hard to determine his success after last season. Opposing him will be a strong offense which has struggled, yet they have outproduced Colorado’s lineup and should produce no duds against a poor pitching unit. Kodai Senga has produced wins in 80% of his major league starts; which should bode well against a team which typically performs significantly worse on the road. Take the Mets to win in this matchup and cover the puck line as per the baseball betting trends.
